You've tried everything. Real change doesn't happen on the surface — it happens beneath the behaviour

Helping your anxious child — and helping you help them

Does this sound like you....You want the best for your child

You want to get this right.

Parenting isn’t always easy — and when it comes to anxiety, there’s a part of you quietly wondering:

“Could my anxiety be affecting them?”

Maybe your little one is still a baby, and you’re already aware of how much they pick up from you.

Or maybe your child is a bit older, and you’ve started to notice:

  • More worry than you expected
  • Hesitation or holding back
  • Avoiding things they used to manage
  • Needing reassurance more often than feels right
  • Big reactions to small change

And if you’re honest with yourself…

You don’t want them to struggle with anxiety the way you have

As a parent we do the best we can with what we know...

A young boy crying and looking upset, showing signs of anxiety and overwhelm

You've probably already tried to help

• You’ve reassured them

• You’ve talked things through

• You’ve tried to help them feel better in the moment

• You’ve tried to stay calm under pressure

And in many ways that makes sense…

But when it comes to anxiety those approaches don’t always make real change

Because anxiety is not coming from the conscious mind it’s coming from underneath.

And if that part isn’t being worked with – things might improve for a while but they don’t fully shift

What 10+ Years Working With Anxiety Has Taught Me

Adults who have anxiety typically have had one of the below or a combination of:

– An anxious parent

– A stressful event that has not been resolved

– A parent who had unresolved anger issues

– Worked with traditional talk therapies

– A belief that that anxiety would have disappeared on it’s own

What needs to change for anxiety to change

Anxiety isn’t a fixed trait — it’s a set of patterns running underneath the surface. Change the pattern, and everything on top starts to change too. Here’s how that actually works

See the pattern

First, we spot the patterns running beneath the behaviour — in your child, and in the family around them. Because you can't change what you can't see

Change it underneath

This is the part almost everyone misses. These patterns sit below conscious thought — you can't talk a child out of them. That's the heart of the Beneath the Behaviour™ method

Practice the new skill

Once the old pattern shifts, the new response gets practised in small steps — until it's second nature. This is where calm and confidence become how your child actually lives

You don't have to work this out on your own...

What most people are not told about childhood anxiety...

Anxiety & Genetics

There is no one gene that is responsible for anxiety - there is a combination of genetics and environment

Anxiety & Learnt behaviours

Children learn how to perceive the world from their parents

Anxiety & Unconscious mind

Our anxiety runs deeper than our conscious mind - we need to work with the unconscious patterns underneath, not just the thinking on top

Anxiety & Anxious parents

The flip side, when a parent changes how they respond, the child has the best possible chance to change too

Experiences from people I’ve worked with

About Anne

I’ve spent more than 10 years helping people understand and work through anxiety by working with the unconscious mind—the part underneath the overthinking, fear, and patterns that keep anxiety going.

I know this work personally too. I experienced anxiety myself for years, so I understand how deeply it can shape the way we think, feel, and respond to life.

I’m also a mum of three.

And what I’ve learned, both as a parent and through years of working with anxiety, is that children learn from how we respond.

That’s why this work starts with parents.

Because when you understand anxiety differently, work with it differently, and respond differently—your child learns something different too.

Why I Wrote This Book

Surviving to Thriving came out of more than a decade of working with people who’d tried everything on the surface and still felt stuck. What changed things was never more willpower or more talking — it was working with the unconscious mind, and the patterns running underneath.

It’s the same understanding behind everything I do with parents and children today, and the foundation of the Beneath the Behaviour™ method.
